The Jaeger Clip Lead
Handmade in Southampton by a Master Rigger using Technora® rope and traditional cast brass fittings. Lightweight, exceptionally strong, remarkably versatile and strength tested to 500kg.
Description
All our Leads are made from a Technora blend rope manufactured by a British company with over 200 years of rope making heritage. Technora is a close relation to Kevlar, and is light weight, low stretch and abrasion resistant - in fact it was used to suspend the NASA Mars Rover from its parachute during descent.
We've tested the lead to 500kg which is the limit of our testing equipment!
Our Leads are handmade a stone's throw from Southampton Water, by a Master Rigger who's a veteran of Two America's Cups, and Whitbread Round the World Race; we’ve done everything we can to make these the best leads available.

FAQ
Materials & Construction
Our leads are handmade in Southampton, United Kingdom, by a Master Rigger using traditional rope-working techniques and carefully selected materials.
Our leads are handmade by a professional Master Rigger whose career has included competing in two America’s Cups. The same attention to detail, craftsmanship and rope working expertise is applied to every lead we make.
Technora® is a high-performance aramid fibre from the same family as Kevlar®. It is renowned for its exceptional strength, durability and abrasion resistance, making it ideally suited to demanding applications.
We wanted a lead that was exceptionally strong without being bulky or cumbersome. Technora® delivers outstanding strength while remaining lightweight, flexible and comfortable for everyday use.
By removing the core, we create a lead that is lighter, more flexible and easier to pocket. The result is a lead that handles beautifully in the field while taking up very little space when not in use.
Our leads feature traditional cast brass fittings selected for their strength, durability and timeless appearance. Brass is naturally corrosion resistant and develops character with age and use.
We strength tested our leads to 500kg, which was the maximum capacity of our testing equipment. This provides an enormous margin of safety for even the strongest dogs.
Choosing the Right Lead
Our Slip Lead combines collar and lead into a single piece of equipment, making it quick and convenient to put on and remove. It is particularly popular with working dog owners, trainers and handlers who value simplicity and speed.
Our Clip Lead attaches to a separate collar and is often preferred by owners looking for a more traditional everyday lead arrangement.
Both are handmade from the same Technora® rope and use the same traditional craftsmanship and materials.
Our XL Slip Lead and XL Clip Lead offer exactly the same design and functionality as our standard leads, but with additional length.
Many owners appreciate the extra reach when training, exercising young dogs or allowing greater freedom while maintaining control.
The Jaeger Lead is a traditional hunting lead designed to perform multiple roles in the field.
Available as either a Slip Lead or Clip Lead, it offers considerably greater versatility than a conventional dog lead while retaining the same lightweight, strong and compact construction.
The Jaeger Lead is one of the most versatile pieces of dog handling equipment we offer.
Many owners use it:
- Worn over the shoulder for hands-free walking.
- As a longer lead when additional freedom is required.

It is particularly popular with working dog handlers who regularly move between walking, training and hunting situations.
The Jaeger Clip Lead provides all the versatility of the Jaeger system while allowing the lead to be attached to a separate collar.
